The Sonoma County Department of Health Services Tobacco Prevention Program is hosting a number of trainings to bolster tobacco cessation capacity throughout Sonoma County.  These trainings are available to Aliados Health member staff free of charge (space permitting). For the April series (4/3 and 4/5), 14 CEUs will be provided for LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCCs, RNs and CADC.

Led by Meghan Murphy, MSW, these trainings present Trauma-informed Motivational Interviewing for Smoking Cessation. The principles of Motivational Interviewing can be used to increase the likelihood that a person who may not want to quit tobacco will take steps to quit. It is a counseling style which helps people to explore and resolve their uncertainties about changing their behavior. Trauma-informed support will help frame smoking as a coping mechanism and help the individual identify alternative adaptations that are empowering supporting the process of change and healing.

Trainings are being scheduled in several locations throughout Sonoma County and will be announced on a rolling basis.  For registration information or if you have any questions, please let me know.
