Health insurance for Marin’s undocumented children changing again in May
Uninsured children in Marin, many of whom are undocumented, will once again have the option of receiving medical care at the Marin Community Clinics, or one of the county’s other federally qualified health centers, when a new state law takes effect in May.
Last fall, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law Senate Bill 4, which allotted $40 million in this year’s budget to provide Medi-Cal coverage to children 18 and younger who lack legal status. It’s estimated that 170,000 kids throughout the state will be eligible.
