Free Dental Screenings Start Next Saturday
In response to clinical evidence demonstrating the value of early dental care and fluoride varnishing for children ages 0 5 years, Yolo County's Communicare Health Centers announced a series of free dental screenings and fluoride varnish clinics for children 5 and under. Studies have shown the use of fluoride varnish helps prevent early childhood cavities.
The free Saturday dental clinics, funded by First 5 Yolo, will take place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
• March 15: Salud Communicare Health Centers, 500B Jefferson Blvd., No.180, West Sacramento. Phone (916) 403-2960 for an appointment.
• April 12: Davis Communicare Health Center, 2051 John Jones Road, Davis. Phone 757-4667 for an appointment.
• April 26: Peterson Clinic, 8 N. Cottonwood, Woodland. Phone 666-8954 for an appointment.
• May 17: Peterson Clinic, 8 N. Cottonwood, Woodland. Phone 666-8954 for an appointment.
• June 7: Salud Communicare Health Centers, 500B Jefferson Blvd., No. 180, West Sacramento. Phone (916) 403-2960 for an appointment.
• June 21: Esparto Clinic, 16827 Fremont St., Esparto. Phone 787-4972 for an appointment. Parents and guardians are advised to call for an appointment and mention "Saturday Clinic" to be sure they are scheduled at the appropriate clinic.
California law requires children to have an oral health assessment by a dental professional by May 31st of the first school year. Oral health evaluations occurring within the 12 months prior to school entry also meet this requirement.
