ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS TALK- MARCH 6

Electronic medical records talk March 6

SANTA ROSA – Electronic medical records pioneer Dr. Kwame Kitson, who will speak at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts on March 6, was invited by the Sonoma Health Access Coalition to discuss how 12 of his community clinics worked with their government to improve the health of the city.

Today, even though just about every facility in the North Bay is implementing some form of electronic medical record system, only those in the community clinic setting are within reach of meeting the original innovators’ goal.

“From what I’ve seen, the community clinics [in the North Bay] are really on the leading edge of using their technology for a bigger purpose,” he said.

Dr. Kitson is the vice president of the Quality Improvement Institute for Urban Family Health in New York. He said having a bank of patient data has helped him identify pervasive health issues in the community and take direct action in addressing the problem with help from the city department of health.

The event will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those wishing to attend should RSVP to Pedro Toledo at ptoledo@rchc.com.
