Alliance Medical Center of Healdsburg and Windsor was one of 13 California organizations to win a piece of a $6.2-million grant from UnitedHealth Group/PacifiCare. The low-income health care provider received $384,573, which will be used to deploy an e-prescribing program.

Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa will be recognized by its quality improvement membership network, VHA, during the group’s 2009 summit and “Member Spotlight Award Ceremony and Recognition event” on Nov. 12.

Sutter will accept awards and certificates for achievement in team collaboration, clinical performance, innovation and patient safety along with other west coast members of VHA. Sutter nurse Misi Nagle will receive a certificate as “nurse champion” and Dr. Kenneth Lamb will receive a “physician champion” award.

VHA of the west coast includes about 100 member hospitals and will distribute about 150 awards and certificates during the event.  Members submit for the awards and are chosen by VHA staff.

Also, the Sutter hospital along with St. Joseph Health System Sonoma County received H1N1 vaccines and have inoculated employees and physicians.
