Garden tours will benefit West County non-profits

GUERNEVILLE — Garden buffs will get a chance to tour some West County landscapes that are just hitting their spring stride next month during a fund-raising visit to the gardens of local resorts.

“These are some of the most spectacular gardens in Sonoma County,” said Jennifer Neeley of West County Health Centers, one of the sponsors of the Resorts in Bloom tours that take place June 12, 13 and 14.

Tickets are $30 for one day or $60 for all three days to visit gardens at resorts such as Guerneville’s Applewood Inn located on the site of the historic Belden House. The century-old riverside garden at Dawn Ranch Lodge (formerly Fife’s) in Guerneville and the historic garden at Korbel Champagne Cellars are among the 15 West County resort gardens to be showcased on the fund-raising tour to help support West County Health Centers, River to Coast Child Services and West County Community Services.

Photos and information on all the resort gardens are available on the project’s web site, resortsinbloom.com.

“It’s a completely self-guided tour,” said Neeley; visitors can drive to whichever gardens they want to view.

You could try to see all 15 in one day or enjoy a more leisurely pace visiting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“You’ll never see them all in one day,” said Neeley.

Tickets are available now on-line at resortsinbloom.com and at West County Health Centers’ offices in Guerneville, Occidental and Sebastopol, at West County Community Services and at River to Coast Child Services.

All the featured resorts are selling tickets, too.
